The three-hour finale of “The Bachelorette” was nothing if not eventful. After her last romantic dates with her final two and meetings with her parents, Andi Dorfman picked Josh M. as the winner (as our users predicted), he proposed, and she accepted, leading to happy kisses in the Dominican Republic, whose tourism board sponsored the episode’s scenic locales.
She didn’t even let Nick V. propose. On the morning he expected to pick out a ring, he instead found Andi at his door, and she gave him the bad news: she couldn’t return his feelings and was sending him home.
Nick was literally slack-jawed as he was driven away, but it didn’t end there. As host Chris Harrison teased during the episode’s live studio segments, Nick was still heartbroken weeks after getting the axe and made attempts to contact Andi after the show was finished filming. Andi rebuffed him, which meant the show got a chance to stage a dramatic live confrontation between them in the “After the Final Rose” live show.
Nick felt Andi led him on during the season, and he made a surprise revelation that might have made Andi wish she’d met with him privately when he asked: “Knowing how in love with you I was, if you weren’t in love with me, I’m just not sure why, like, why you made love with me.” She replied that his kiss-and-tell announcement was “below the belt.”
Soon after that awkwardness, Nick was dismissed again and Josh joined Andi, and they were able to talk publicly about their engagement for the first time. Before that, they had to sneak around in disguise to see each other. They won’t be sneaking around anymore, though Nick may be hanging his head for a while.
