Another season of “The Voice” is almost in the books with the top four contenders performing this Monday on NBC. Will the ulimate seventh season champion be Craig Wayne Boyd, Chris Jamison, Damien Lawson, or Matt McAndrew?
Lawson was eliminated last week but was redeemed early on Wednesday morning. For the first time ever, producers allowed several eliminated contestants to contend for a “wild card” slot against the top three artists. Will that allow him to mount a comeback or is he still the fourth best of the year?
According to your predictions, McAndrew remains at the top of our leaderboard with 4/7 odds (see chart at left). Boyd is next at 11/5. Jamison has escaped elimination before, but still has a shot with 22/1 odds. Lawson is last at 50/1.
One thing is certain: a veteran coach will once again have the winning team member. Boyd is the last remaining artist for Blake Shelton (who won the second, third, and fourth seasons). Surprisingly, Adam Levine has all three of the other artists still in the competition. He prevailed the first and fifth seasons for the program.
Rookie coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams have no artists still contending. While Williams will be back next year, Stefani isn’t scheduled to return (being replaced by original coach Christina Aguilera).
Let’s take a look at the four remaining contenders for this season:
Matt McAndrew: 4/7 odds for Team Adam. From Barnegat Light, NJ. His songs this season have been “A Thousand Years,” “Yellow,” “Drops of Jupiter,” “God Only Knows,” “Take Me to Church,” “Fix You,” “The Blower’s Daughter,” “Make It Rain,” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
Craig Wayne Boyd: 11/5 odds for Team Blake. From Nashville, TN. His songs this season have been “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’,” “Wave on Wave,” “Can’t You See,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “You Look So Good in Love,” “Walk the Line,” “Take It Easy,” “Workin’ Man Blues,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Chris Jamison: 22/1 odds for Team Adam. From Pittsburgh, PA. His songs this season have been “Gravity,” “Young Girls,” “Dock of the Bay,” “Don’t,” “Jealous,” “Uptown Funk,” “Sexual Healing,” “Sugar,” and “When I Was Your Man.”
Damien Lawson: 50/1 odds for Team Adam. From Monroe, LA. His songs this season have been “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” “Knock on Wood,” “How Do I Live,” “I’m Not the Only One,” “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” “You and I,” “Someone Like You,” “She’s Out of My Life,” and “I Don’t Want to Wait.”
