ACM Awards: Florida Georgia Line may be unbeatable for Vocal Duo of the Year

Florida Georgia Line won Vocal Duo of the Year for the first time at last year’s Academy of Country Music Awards, but even though they’re relatively new to the country music scene – they won New Artist just two years ago – it looks like they’ll have no trouble repeating in this contest.

Do you agree that they’ll take home this award?

ACM Awards: Complete list of nominations

Florida Georgia Line get overwhelming 1/10 odds based on support from all five Gold Derby Editors, 85% of our Users, and 23 of our Top 24 Users (those readers who got the best scores predicting last year’s awards). This year, they also picked up a bid for Record of the Year (“Dirt“), two for Vocal Event (“The South” and “This Is How We Roll“), and they’re the only duo or group nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

For that matter, Florida Georgia Line are the only contenders in this race nominated in any other categories at all. Bet against them at your peril.

But if you do think there’s an upset looming, you might consider Maddie and Tae, ranked second with 20/1 odds. They have support from 6% of all Users and one of our Top 24 Users: Matthew DiFeo.

Dan and Shay are next with 33/1 odds. This is their second straight nomination in the race, but they’re backed by only 3% of Users.

The Swon Brothers are first-time nominees and get 50/1 odds based on support from 5% of Users.

Rounding out the category are another pair of first-time contenders: the Brothers Osborne. Unfortunately, none of our predictors are betting on them to win, so they trail with 100/1 odds.

The ACM Awards have gotten progressively harder to predict in recent years. Last year, our overall odds managed a score of 18% while our Top 24 Users did slightly better with 27%. That was down from 2012, when we collectively predicted 36%, and way down from 2011, when we scored 55%. That means all of Gold Derby’s predictors are hoping to make a comeback, and you can help.

If you think you can predict this year’s ACM Awards better then our Editors, Top 24 and Users, click here to enter or edit your picks, or use our easy drag-and-drop menu below to get started. Your picks will be pooled together with the rest of ours to generate the official racetrack odds

Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean predicting the right winners. You also have to use your three big bets (one of 500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a long shot who pulls off an upset you can really rack up the points. As we use those point totals to break ties when more than one user tops our leaderboard with the same number of correct answers, don’t take them for granted.
