Congratulations to our user Lloyd P. Flores for winning this week’s episode contest. This reader wins a $100 Amazon gift certificate for being the only person to reap perfect 100% accuracy predicting Top 8 Week.
Lloyd’s winning predictions were that Qaasim would go home, that Rayvon Owen would earn the Idol Fan Save, that Jennifer Lopez would not have “goosies,” that Harry Connick Jr. would not mention a singer’s “intonation” and that Keith Urban would give a standing ovation.
Qaasim was ranked first in Gold Derby’s predictions to go home with overwhelming odds of 5/6, making this a bit of a landslide for our readers. Lloyd used one of his 200 point bets on this question and reaped 160 points. However, Lloyd’s biggest gamble was when he forecasted Rayvon’s triumph with the Idol Fan Save by placing his other 200 point bet on this question when Rayvon had low 14/1 odds. For that alone, he earned a whopping 2,800 points. That’s why it’s beneficial to keep coming back to Gold Derby to see if the odds of your picks have gotten better or worse throughout the week.
After Qaasim, our readers predicted that Quentin Alexander would go home with 5/1 odds, followed by Rayvon in third place with 15/2 odds and Nick Fradiani in fourth place with 16/1 odds. Click on the chart above to see our readers’ complete predictions for Top 8 Week.
It’s fair to say of this season’s eliminations, our readers correctly saw the past four (Qaasim, Daniel, Adanna and Maddie) coming a mile away.
Who’s next? Be sure to make your predictions now, as your picks influence our overall racetrack odds at Gold Derby.
Where do you fall on our overall Season 14 leaderboard?
For the entire season so far, JB is still in first place with 62% prediction accuracy. As for JB’s current predictions, he tells us, “I’d say Clark has this season in the bag. At this point, it’s a race for second place with Jax in the lead.”
Next up on our leaderboard is Phoenix in second place with 61% accuracy, followed by our frequent contest winner Denton in third place with 56% accuracy. Amikala is fourth place with 53% accuracy, while Povalles rounds out our Top 5 with 47% accuracy. Click here to see where you score on our overall season leaderboard.

Our current overall leader JB correctly predicted Qaasim’s exit in Top 8 Week. However, he thought Tyanna Jones would receive the Idol Fan Save instead of Rayvon (see complete predix), proving that it’s possible to do well in our contests without getting everything right.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
To vote for who think will go home next on “American Idol,” drag contestants over from the left to the right and arrange them in your predicted order. For example, if you think Tyanna will be eliminated, make sure you put her in first place.
