While “The Grand Budapest Hotel” was an expected winner in the Best Period Design category, “Guardians of the Galaxy” upset predicted champ “Into the Woods” for Best Fantasy Design. Oscar’s Best Picture frontrunner “Birdman” won with this group for Best Contemporary Design.

For the six Experts who participated, the only one with a perfect score was Tariq Khan (Fox News). The others finishing with 67% correct were Matt Atchity (Rotten Tomatoes), Edward Douglas (Coming Soon), Tom O’Neil and Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby), and Susan Wloszczyna (RogerEbert.com).

All five of Gold Derby’s Editors — Daniel Montgomery, Marcus Dixon, Matt Noble, Rob Licuria, and myself — finished with the same 67% accuracy.
