“I know it’s a long shot but I’m predicting Austin Matelson to win ‘Big Brother,’” says Denton Davidson, our $100 contest winner predicting Week 2. “Yes, he is a huge (literally) target but he is kind of ‘in’ on both sides of the house and he is smarter than people think.”
Check out our Week 2 leaderboard, where Davidson beat all other users with 89% accuracy thanks to his savvy predictions. Do YOU have what it takes to take him down next week and win our prize of a $100 Amazon gift certificate? See our contest rules.
If Davidson’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s won many of Gold Derby’s $100 contest over the past two years. If there’s anyone whose predictions you should look at (or steal from) going forward, it’s definitely his. See our contest winners page.
Davidson continues, “Sometimes when someone is an early target, if they can escape a few weeks, bigger targets emerge and suddenly people forget that their initial target is still around five weeks later. Austin’s problem is that he is tied to Clay and Shelli and I think that’s a mistake. But if a tough physical threat gets deep into the game, suddenly they become harder to vote out because they have more chances to win competitions with fewer people to compete against. He probably won’t win, but I’m in his corner for the moment.”
“I’m really enjoying the season so far. I think it’s a pretty good cast,” Davidson admits of Season 17. “I was sad to see Da’Vonne go so early, as I love someone who can stir the pot. I never understand social media comments who want all the drama evicted — what’s the fun in that? I’m hoping Audrey sticks around for a while now. I’m a little worried that half the house will cave into this (boring) alliance with Clay and Shelli. I definitely prefer the side of the house who are more like outcasts.”
As for who he thinks is getting evicted next, Davidson agrees with our overall season leader Geoffrey De Leon (screen name Exxdee) in predicting Jeff Weldon. “I think Jeff will be going home this week. Vanessa has come up with some reasons to make him a target and it seems to be working. I don’t really understand it, but him going home wouldn’t bother me. I would love for Jason and Steve to win the next HOH and stir some things up.”
Making your predictions is fun and easy. Just log into your Gold Derby account, or you can register for a free account via Facebook, Twitter or Google.
After logging in, click on the “Predictions” button found at the top-right of every page. That will bring you to a list of every event currently being predicted at Gold Derby — everything from the Emmys and Television Critics Association Awards to “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Survivor.”
Click on any box and then scroll down to start making your predictions. For each TV show, cast your votes on several different questions relating to the upcoming episode.
If you click on the “Big Brother” button, you’ll see something like this:
To vote for who you think will be eliminated next, drag your chosen contestant over from the left to the right. For example, if you think Jeff will get the boot, make sure you put him in first place.
Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Jeff will go home, that means he’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the contestants who don’t receive many predictions have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
