“I have Jeff Weldon going home this week. He’s a big player and the presumed leader of the other side of the house, along with James Huling,” says our current “Big Brother” contest leader Geoffrey De Leon (screen name Exxdee). “Vanessa and Austin to some extent want Jeff out, and he’s a big target and a physical competitor.”
De Leon leads our Season 17 leaderboard after two weeks, beating hundreds of other users, thanks to his savvy predictions. There are still many weeks to play in our contest, so can YOU take him down and win our prize of a $100 Amazon gift certificate? See our contest rules.
De Leon continues, “Right now, I have Vanessa Rousso as the winner of ‘Big Brother,’ but there’s no runaway choice like Derrick last season who played an incredible game. I picked her since the beginning and plan on sticking with Vanessa until she is evicted (or hopefully wins). Johnny Mac and Steve also have decent shots. James is my favorite contestant though, since he’s quite similar to myself.”
As for making his weekly predictions at Gold Derby, De Leon admits, “The tricky area is picking the two HOH winners. I pick my winners based on who I think is competitive in the probable contest. During the early parts of the season, the HOH competitions are played out live and rapidly instead of the longer endurance competitions which seem to happen less and less every year (unlike ‘Survivor’).”
“A key to ‘Big Brother’ is adapting,” he reveals. “In this season in particular, a good strategy is to lay low and let the big players take themselves out. So, Johnny Mac (even though he’s a pawn every week), Vanessa and Steve are in a good position if they can survive until the jury and form an alliance with one or two people — maybe themselves!”
As for this season’s controversial twin twist, De Leon admits that he’s a fan. “But from the beginning, Liz and Julia had some stark differences in their physical appearance. If the houseguests paid attention to them, they would be in trouble, just as Da’Vonne did. I think they will be targets in the next few weeks, and it would intriguing to see if they can win a competition to save themselves until they can re-enter after five evictions.”
Making your predictions is fun and easy. Just log into your Gold Derby account, or you can register for a free account via Facebook, Twitter or Google.
After logging in, click on the “Predictions” button found at the top-right of every page. That will bring you to a list of every event currently being predicted at Gold Derby — everything from the Emmys and Television Critics Association Awards to “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Survivor.”
Click on any box and then scroll down to start making your predictions. For each TV show, cast your votes on several different questions relating to the upcoming episode.
If you click on the “Big Brother” button, you’ll see something like this:
To vote for who you think will be eliminated next, drag your chosen contestant over from the left to the right. For example, if you think Jeff will get the boot, make sure you put him in first place.
Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Jeff will go home, that means he’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the contestants who don’t receive many predictions have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
