‘Big Brother’ controversy: Is transgender houseguest Audrey Middleton getting a free pass?

Audrey Middleton has made her fair share of dumb game moves on “Big Brother,” so why is she still in the game? Is she getting a free pass because she’s the show’s first-ever transgender contestant? That’s what Da’Vonne Rogers hinted at during her eviction, and what last week’s HOH Vanessa Rousso confirmed by not putting Audrey up on the block.

But despite all the controversy, I can still think of three reasons why Audrey should remain in the house. After reading my analysis below, make your predictions for the rest of Week 4 and you could win our prize of a $100 Amazon gift certificate. It’s fun and easy, so start now by scrolling down and predicting who will be eliminated.

She’ll betray anyone
In a season where so many houseguests have already sworn allegiance to their alliances, Audrey has been in a number of groups … and betrayed all of them. First she proved herself untrustworthy to her initial alliance by adding a number of players to it during the middle of the night, then she backstabbed Da’Vonne by telling Vanessa she was gunning for her, and now she’s lied to Shelli about Jason coming after her. Which alliance will she betray next? We’ll never know if she’s evicted.

She’s a wild card
Remember Week 1’s live eviction when she voted to evict Jackie instead of the house’s choice of Jace? And do you recall in the season premiere when she compared herself to TV serial killer Dexter Morgan? These are the kinds of jaw-dropping surprises we’ll lose if Audrey goes home in Week 4. Love her or hate her, we can at least all agree on the fact that Audrey isn’t boring.

She’s not playing for the money
Many contestants take pride in the fact that they’re playing “Big Brother” to better their families’ lives with the $500,000 grand prize … yawn. Not Audrey. She’s playing to win that title of champion. She’ll lie, cheat, steal and do whatever it takes to secure a victory for herself and for the transgender community. And that makes for good television.

In our “Big Brother” predictions center, you get to answer the following questions for the rest of Week 4:

Who will win the Veto competition?

Will the Veto be used?

If you click on the “Big Brother” button, you’ll see something like this:

To vote for who you think will be eliminated next, drag your chosen contestant over from the left to the right. For example, if you think Audrey will get the boot, make sure you put her in first place.

Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Audrey will go home, that means she’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the contestants who don’t receive many predictions have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.

‘Big Brother’ poll: Who’s the WORST winner of all time?

Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.

Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.

  1. I believe that everyone in the house should stop focusing on Audrey, as transgendered, yes we know she is and has made a full transition. Start treating her as a person and a player in the house and stop being afraid of putting her up or sending her home. I am proud that she is the first transgender individual ever on Big Brother, but as much as that is a very important thing to focus on, it is not the only thing to focus on. Audrey is a woman, a person and just like everyone else in that house, can be sent home. This is Big Brother after all.
