Emmy dream ballot winners: ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’ sweep

When it came to filling out their Dream Emmy ballots, our users went with much of what we are predicting will dominate the Emmys on the drama side but their tastes are decidedly different on the comedy front. (See the full dream ballot results here and compare these with the Gold Derby predictions for Emmy nominations here.)

Emmy nominations predictions:
Game of Thrones,’ ‘Modern Family’ will lead

Game of Thrones” claimed top spot in three of the drama categories on the dream ballot: Drama Series, Drama Supporting Actor (Peter Dinklage) and Drama Supporting Actress (Lena Headey). Of these, Dinklage is the tipped to win at the Emmys while the show is in a tight three-way battle.

Likewise, our dream picks for Drama Actor (Jon Hamm, “Mad Men“) and Drama Actress (Viola Davis, “How to Get Away with Murder“) — are also predicted to prevail at TV’s top honors

However, while we are predicting that “Modern Family” will take the top Emmy for a sixth year running (and thereby breaking the record it shares with “Frasier”), our dream Comedy Series champ is “Parks and Recreation” with “Veep” a close second.

And though we expect “Veep” leading lady Julia Louis-Dreyfus to take home the Comedy Actress trophy for the fourth year in a row we want “Parks and Recreation” star Amy Poehler to win her first. And our dream choice for Comedy Supporting Actor is her cohort Chris Pratt with castmate Nick Offerman a close second.

Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent“) is both our dream and predicted winner of Comedy Actor. And we both want and expect Allison Janney to win the Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy for “Mom.”
