Maggie Gyllenhaal on getting feedback from across the political divide: “ people who were very far over … on the spectrum of the conflict … and I was getting feedback from those people all the way through the show airing, and I was amazed by how they could hear the show even though they were very far over on both sides.”

Janet McTeer on weighing her character’s moral uncertainty: “How many people is she willing to get rid of, or compromise, or undermine, or throw under the bus in order to fulfill her own ambition, and how much of it is for the good of the country?”

Hugo Blick on his feminist approach to the Middle East conflict: “I was really interested in saying, well let’s take a thriller structure but place women in the center, women who weren’t archetypes, women who would come at a problem not from a straight-on, masculine, battering position, but come at it from an elliptical angle.”
