Catch up on our exclusive Emmy chats with the stars of “Jane the Virgin,” which has won Golden Globe, People’s Choice, AFI, and Peabody Awards and been nominated by Critics’ Choice and the Television Critics Association.
That’s an impressive awards haul for a show that just ended its freshmen season, making history along the way, and we haven’t even gotten to the Emmys yet.
We chatted exclusively with several of the shows stars including Golden Globe champ Gina Rodriguez, Critics’ Choice nominee Jaime Camil, creator Jennie Urman, and Best Comedy Supporting Actress hopeful Yael Grobglas. Watch them below.
Breakout star Rodriguez on being her own motivation: “It’s your journey. It’s your path. It’s your dreams. Go make them happen. If you wait for somebody else to make your dreams happen most likely they’re going to get to theirs first.”
Jaime Camil on Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award winning actress Rita Moreno playing his mother on the show: “Imagine being on set with Hollywood royalty. It’s just surreal. She’s one of the very few EGOTs in the world. It was amazing. She’s a beautiful human being.”
Series Creator Jennie Urman on what Emmy nominations would mean: “It would be validation and mean extra exposure for the show. It would drive more people to check it out and to watch it. And … it would blow my parents minds.”
Yael Grobglas on playing the villain: “In a way it’s freeing because the character doesn’t care about what people think about her. She doesn’t have to do things in order for people to like her because she doesn’t care. She’s the hero of her own story.”
