Since 2000, only one man has won the Golden Globe for Best TV Comedy Actor more than once: Alec Baldwin (“30 Rock”) prevailed in 2006, 2008 and 2009. Does that mean last year’s champ Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent“) may have a tough time winning again? If so, might funnyman Will Forte (“The Last Man on Earth“) be the one to unseat him? Hurry — make your own predictions for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift certificate. It’s fun and easy, so get started by scrolling down to predict who will win the Globe for Best TV Comedy Actor.
According to exclusive Gold Derby odds that are derived from the predictions made by our Editors (website staff editors), Top 24 Users (the two dozen folks who did the best predicting last year’s nominations) and other Users just like you, Tambor currently leads this TV race with 10/3 odds, followed by Forte in second place with odds of 13/2.
While Golden Globes history may favor newcomers to the race, Tambor does have major factors in his corner. The second season of the Amazon hit “Transparent” streams December 4, right in the midst of Globes voting. And Tambor was unbeatable for much of this awards season, earning kudos at the Emmys and Critics’ Choice Awards in addition to last year’s Globe victory.
If voters are keen on rewarding someone new, they may opt for Forte. Despite his show currently airing its second season on Fox, “The Last Man on Earth” is still new to the Globes because of their eligibility period that consists of the 2015 calendar year. As we all knew, Newest = Best when it comes to voting members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, so Forte could pull off a jawdropper.
Other top comedic actors in contention are Rob Lowe (15/2 odds) for the inaugural episodes of Fox’s “The Grinder,” Louis C.K. (11/1 odds) for FX’s long-running “Louie” and Patrick Stewart (14/1 odds) for the first season of Starz’s “Blunt Talk.” See up-to-date Golden Globe odds and rankings for this race right here.
