Do YOU think Lady Gaga is the perfect choice to fill the void as reigning diva of the “American Horror Story” franchise? Or is original star Jessica Lange simply irreplaceable? As the new installment of “Hotel” premieres on FX, it’s time to cast your vote. See poll below right now.
After winning two Emmys for the popular anthology series — supporting for the original “AHS” and lead for “AHS: Coven” — Lange said goodbye earlier this year, prompting many to wonder if “American Horror Story” could possibly continue without her. Turns out it can, thanks to acting newcomer Lady Gaga.
Mostly known for her music career, Gaga already has two Emmy nominations to her name in the Best Variety Special category: “Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden” (2011) and “Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek Live!” (2015). While she lost both of those bids, she can take comfort in her six Grammy wins.
Despite Lange’s departure, “AHS: Hotel” should continue to dominate the ratings for FX thanks to the notable addition of superstar Gaga and the show’s creepy hotel theme. But will it also be a hit with the Emmys next year? As a refresher, the first four seasons racked up an incredible 71 nominations with 13 victories in the movie/miniseries categories.
Here’s a list of the franchise’s Emmy wins so far:
