Oscars predictions: ‘Boyhood’ will win 3 including Best Picture, ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’ 4, ‘Birdman’ 2

Our predictions are based on a combination of the four sets of forecasts at Gold Derby: Experts, Editors, the Top 24 Users (highest scorers predicting last year’s winners), and All Users. Last year, we forecast 22 of the 24 winners, missing only Animated Short and Live Action Short.

The Grand Budapest Hotel” is predicted to prevail with four of its nine nominations:
Best Original Screenplay
Best Costume Design
Best Makeup & Hairstyling
Best Production Design

Boyhood” will win three of its six bids:
Best Picture
Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette)
Best Film Editing 

Birdman will take two of its nine nods:
Best Director (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu)
Best Cinematography

The Theory of Everything” will go two for five: Best Actor (Eddie Redmayne), Best Score;

Whiplash” will claim two of its five bids: Best Supporting Actor (J.K. Simmons), Best Sound Mixing;

The Imitation Game” will go one for eight, winning just Adapted Screenplay;

American Sniper” will win one of its six races: Best Sound Editing;

Interstellar” will prevail with one of its five bids: Best Visual Effects;

Ida” will bat .500, taking Foreign Language Film;

So will “Selma“, claiming Best Song; and

Still Alice” will win its sole bid: Best Actress (Julianne Moore).
