Have you made your “So You Think You Can Dance” predictions yet? What are you waiting for? You only have until 8pm Eastern (5pm Pacific) to bet on tonight’s show for a chance to win $100 (if you qualify according to our contest rules).
There were some expected results and some surprises last Monday night when the show announced its top 10 dancers, but our users are sure they know who’s going home next according to the strong consensus in our racetrack odds. Team Stage will lose Derek Piquette, while Team Street will bid farewell to Jessica “J.J.” Rabone. Do you agree?
A whopping 69% of users are betting on Piquette’s ouster, giving him 4/9 odds. He was at the bottom last week but saved by Twitter fans, who chose to eliminate his teammates Alexia Meyer and Kate Harpootlian instead. That was Piquette’s third time in the bottom three, and with the competition down to its most elite competitors, there may be no other dancers left to cushion his fall.
But 22% of users say Edson Juarez will be eliminated instead, giving him 7/2 odds. Of the five remaining stage dancers, he is the only one besides Piquette who has ever been in danger before, having landed in the bottom three in “Top 18 Week.”
For Team Street, 63% of users are picking Rabone to be sent home, giving her 4/7 odds. She has been in the bottom three once before, during “Top 16 Week,” but not last Monday when she made it safely through to the top 10. However, the judges were unimpressed by her pin-up-themed jazz number with Harpootlian – who was eliminated just a few minutes later – and the only other remaining Team Street member who has ever been in danger, Eddie “Neptune” Eskridge, wowed with his racism-themed contemporary dance and his heartfelt explanation of what it meant to him.
Neptune ranks third in our predictions with 8/1 odds of being eliminated, with 11% of users anticipating his exit. In second place behind Rabone is Megz Alfonso, who has always been safe but delivered a poorly received hip-hop routine with Piquette last week that could land her in the bottom three for the first time.
Who should you predict? User Michael Jenkins, aka EmmyLoser, topped our leaderboard for last week’s show and currently has the best predictions score for the season to date. He says, “Generally, I bet the most points on the predictions with the longest odds to maximize my potential winnings, unless I feel really unsure about the prediction.” However, he adds that “it will just be harder to predict from here” now that we’ve reached the top 10. “I feel like the winner will ultimately come from Team Stage, but even among them, Hailee, Gaby and Jim have all proven to be very strong contestants.”
Jenkins agrees with our consensus that Piquette and Rabone will be eliminated, and he thinks Juarez and Alfonso will be in the bottom but safe. He has placed his 500-point big bet on Alfonso at 11/2 odds. If he’s right, that prediction will earn him 2,750 points, which could mean the difference between winning and losing our contest as we use those point totals to break ties if multiple users have the best accuracy percentage.
