Arguably the judges’ favorite performance on Monday night’s live episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” was the hip-hop routine by stage performer Jim Nowakowski and street dancer Jaja Vankova (watch it below). Paula Abdul praised them for showing “endless possibilities.” Jason Derulo called Nowakowski a “bright shining star” and Nigel Lythgoe stood up and blew them kisses.
So they’re safe from elimination, right? Well, probably, but remember that Nowakowski earned raves last week only for his Team Stage dance partner Darion Flores to be sent home in an elimination shocker; our users had thought Flores was safe, giving him distant 50/1 odds of exiting. The elimination of Team Street member Lily Frias was also unexpected; she had 16/1 odds.
Maybe viewers and judges are so wowed by Nowakowski that they ignore his dance partners, which could spell trouble for Vankova, but for the moment, both appear to be safe according to our predictions. Vankova is a 100/1 long shot for elimination, while Nowakowski ranks nearly last with 33/1 odds of exiting.
In fact, Nowakowski is far and away our favorite to win the season with 11/10 odds and support from 48% of users. Vankova is looking pretty good too: she ranks third with 9/1 odds and support from 10% of users.
