“If Joe Anglim had lost that Immunity, [our] girls alliance was on lock. I’m not taking Joe to the end, heck no,” reveals the latest “Survivor” castoff Hali Ford following her elimination (listen below). Hurry — make your predictions for next week’s episode and you could win our weekly prize of a $100 Amazon gift certificate. It’s fun and easy, so start now by scrolling down and predicting who will be eliminated next.
Hali also tells us what was going through her mind when Jeff Probst announced her elimination. “What just happened? So much just fell apart so quickly and I have no idea how,” she recalls, admitting that she was 80% surprised about her torch being snuffed.
Regarding her hilarious comment at Tribal Council that the original American colonists were flippers, Hali explains, “I was scrambling to get Sierra Thomas on our side, and it’s hard to beat America in an argument.”

Congratulations to our user Lauren57 for winning this week’s episode contest. This reader wins a $100 Amazon gift certificate for being the only person to reap perfect 100% accuracy when predicting Episode 8, titled “Keep it Real.”
Lauren’s winning predictions were that Hali would be eliminated, that Joe would win both the Reward and Immunity challenges and that a hidden Immunity idol would not be played.
Hali was actually ranked seventh in Gold Derby’s predictions to go home with final odds of 20/1, making this a bit of a blindside for our readers. But Lauren57 managed to predict Hali’s elimination when she had even lower odds of 25/1, thus earning 2,500 points for the correct prediction. That’s why it’s beneficial to keep coming back to Gold Derby to see if the odds of your picks have gotten better or worse throughout the week.
Fan favorite Joe was our pick to get the boot with 9/2 odds, followed by Dan Foley in second place with 5/1 odds and then Rodney Lavoie and Mike Holloway tied for third place with 11/2 odds. Click on the chart above to see our readers’ complete predictions for Episode 8.
Where do you fall on our overall Season 30 leaderboard?
After a hard-fought battle between Taloson and Smartdude for first place, Taloson finally took the lead this week. His overall prediction accuracy is 69%, followed by Smartdude in second place with 66% accuracy. Benutty is tied at 66%, but his point score (55,049) is lower than Smartdude’s (77,369) so that’s why Benutty is in our #3 position.
Can YOU beat these frontrunners to win our prizes? Then be sure to take part in our “Survivor” prediction contest. We’re giving away $100 Amazon gift certificates to our weekly winners plus at season’s end. The deadline for each episode is Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT.
Our current overall leader Taloson didn’t even have Hali in his predictions to get the boot this week (see complete predix). However, he did so well at predicting previous “Survivor” episodes that he’s now the #1 reader to take down, proving that it’s possible to do well in our contests without getting everything right.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
To vote for who think will go home next on “Survivor,” drag contestants over from the left to the right and arrange them in your predicted order. For example, if you think Jenn will be eliminated, make sure you put her in first place. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can change them later as often as you like.
We are forecasting everything from the results on TV shows like “The Voice,” “Survivor,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “American Idol” and “The Amazing Race” to the winners of the Emmys (Primetime and Daytime), MTV Awards and Tonys.
