Congratulations to our editor MarcusJamesDixon for winning this week’s episode contest. He’s the only person to reap perfect 100% prediction accuracy and a 11,992 point score while predicting Episode 10, titled “Bring the Popcorn.” However, per our contest rules, only eligible players can win the $100 weekly prize.
Marcus’s winning predictions were that Jenn would be voted out, that Mike would win the Immunity challenge, that no one would win the Reward challenge, that a hidden Immunity idol would not be played and that nobody would quit the game.
Jenn’s elimination was hardly a surprise, as she was ranked first in Gold Derby’s predictions to go home with final odds of 10/3 (click on the left-hand chart for the episode’s full odds). Marcus put his 200 point bet on that prediction and netted 666 points. And he nabbed an astounding 10,000 points by correctly calling that there would be no Reward challenge winner with his special 500 point bet. That’s where the strategy — and fun — comes into play here at Gold Derby when making your weekly predictions.
Of the Final 8 castaways, Marcus’ rankings are that Carolyn Rivera will win, followed by Tyler Fredrickson in second, Mike Holloway in third, Sierra Thomas in fourth, Rodney Lavoie in fifth, Dan Foley in sixth, Shirin Oskooi in seventh and Will Sims in last place.
Whose torch do you think will be snuffed next? Be sure to visit our predictions center and make/update your forecasts before voting closes Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT. The user with the highest prediction accuracy and most points will win a $100 Amazon gift certificate.
Where do you fall on our overall Season 30 leaderboard?
All season long, three users — Benutty, Smartdude, Taloson — have been battling it out for the top spot, and this week brings a tie for the highest prediction accuracy with Benutty and Smartdude both at 67%. However, Benutty’s point score (109,092) is higher than Smartdude’s (84,992) which is why he claims first place. Talk about a true nail-biter!
Taloson comes in third with 64%, followed by Sunhound in fourth place with 62% and JasonNolette in fifth place with 57%. Click here to see where you score on our overall season leaderboard.
Can YOU beat these frontrunners to win our prizes? Then be sure to take part in our “Survivor” prediction contest. We’re giving away $100 Amazon gift certificates to our weekly winners plus at season’s end. The deadline for each episode is Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT.
Our current overall leader Benutty predicted Joaquin Souberbielle‘s elimination back in Episode 6. However, he hasn’t forecasted any of the four eliminations since then (see complete predix), proving that it’s possible to do well in our contests without getting everything right.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
To vote for who think will go home next on “Survivor,” drag contestants over from the left to the right and arrange them in your predicted order. For example, if you think Sierra will be eliminated, make sure you put her in first place. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can change them later as often as you like.
We are forecasting everything from the results on TV shows like “The Voice,” “Survivor,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “American Idol” and “The Amazing Race” to the winners of the Primetime and Daytime Emmys and the Tony Awards.
