‘Survivor’ castoff Tyler Fredrickson on being betrayed by Carolyn (Podcast)

“If I knew, if I had just the slightest inclination, if there was a whisper that these six were coming for me, I would have blown it up,” says the latest “Survivor” castoff Tyler Fredrickson to Gold Derby after being betrayed by his closest allies (listen below). “I was ready to raise the stakes. But that’s what happens when you get blindsided!” Hurry — make your predictions for next week’s episode and you could win our prize of a $100 Amazon gift certificate. It’s fun and easy, so start now by scrolling down and predicting who will be eliminated next.

Among those who voted him out was Carolyn Rivera, who shared a special bond with Tyler since early in the game. In fact, many (including me) were even predicting they’d be the Final 2. But at least Carolyn lessened the blow by drawing a heart on her parchment, right? “Maybe it was sweet, but it was all smoke and mirrors. Don’t give me that crap,” Tyler says of Carolyn’s betrayal.

After last week when Tyler got two votes against him, he tells us that he went to Carolyn and said, “I just escaped barely with my head in tact. Are we not in this together? ‘Oh no, we’re together. I just forgot to bring [my idol].’ And then I realized, she is not thinking about me at all. So I gotta figure out a way to start to eliminate her. And that began a process of lining up my ducks in a row to get rid of Carolyn last night. But that all falls flat when she wins immunity and changes everything.”

Only 28% of our users correctly predicted Tyler’s elimination from the game. A high percentage of our readers (33%) thought that Dan’s time on the island would finally run out, but he managed to survive yet another day. Click on the left-hand chart for the episode’s full odds.

He now has leading 67% prediction accuracy while Benutty and Taloson are tied in second place with 63%. Talk about a true nail-biter!

Our current overall leader Smartdude predicted Tyler’s elimination this week. However, he missed calling the previous two back-to-back ousters of Jenn and Shirin (see complete predix), proving that it’s possible to do well in our contests without getting everything right.

Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.

To vote for who you think will go home next on “Survivor,” drag contestants over from the left to the right and arrange them in your predicted order. For example, if you think Sierra will be eliminated, make sure you put her in first place.
