The first trailer for "The Hateful Eight," the highly anticipated Quentin Tarantino western has been released. While the film was shot with the rarely-used 65mm lens, it will screen in selected cinemas come Christmas Day in 70mm before going wide on Jan. 8.
Set in post-Civil War Wyoming, the film focuses on a group of strangers forced to seek refuge at an old inn during a blizzard. In the leaked copy of the script, each character was assigned an archetype.
Samuel L. Jackson, who reaped his only Oscar bid for his supporting turn in Tarantino's 1994 smahs hit "Pulp Fiction," plays Marquis Warren, an ex-US Calvary major. Tagged "The Bounty Hunter," he takes over a stagecoach that numbers "The Hangman" John Ruth (Kurt Russell), "The Prisoner," Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and "The Sheriff" Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins) among its passengers.
At Minnie's Haberdashery, they meet "The Mexican" Bob (Demian Bichir); "The Little Man" Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth); "The Cow Puncher" Joe Gage (Michael Madsen); and "The Confederate" General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern).
Take a look at the teaser below, which gives a tasty sampling of the treats in store for Tarantino devotees come Christmas.
