Melissa Bernardo (Entertainment Weekly) is this year’s best Expert at predicting the Tony Awards nominations. She got an astounding 98% correct, defeating every Expert, Editor, and User who made predictions. In fact, the only thing she missed out of eight categories was one of the nominees as Best Actor in a Musical (she had Peter Gallagher instead of the correct choice of Ken Watanabe).
Bernardo is best among the 13 Experts predicting Tony nominations. In the second spot is Gold Derby’s own Tom O’Neil with 91% accuracy.
The next position is a tie between Thom Geier and Harry Haun (Playbill) with 84% accuracy. David Sheward (Gold Derby) follows at 83%. Andy Humm (Gay USA) and Michael Musto (Out.com) tie at 81%. The last two positions are held by Matt Windham (amNY) at 80% and Jesse Oxfeld (Forward) at 78%.
Among the predictor groups, the best performance was by our Experts with 91.25% accuracy. Our Top 24 Users (those two dozen folks who had done the best predicting last year’s winners) are in second place with 86.25% correct. We then have our Editors at 85.63% and overall Users at 80% right.Click each link in the previous sentence or in our accuracy chart to see these scores for yourself.

In order to win, you must have the highest accuracy percentage – and maybe more than that. If more than one player has the best accuracy, the winner is the person with the highest accuracy plus most game points. So, remember to place your three super bets when making predictions. Each player gets one super bet of 500 points and two of 200 points with all the other categories worth 100 points. Strategy is key. Place those super bets wisely and they could crown you our winner.
