Our Users really like the looks of the two shows — the play “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” and the musical “Fun Home” — that they are predicting will win the top Tony Awards. When it came time to fill our their dream ballots, their own preferences for the best of Broadway lined up with what they expect Tony voters to go for on Sunday. (The dream vote tallies above only include your first-place votes but the rankings take into account your placement of all nominees per category.)
However, there is a disconnect between our predicted winners of the musical acting awards and those nominees that we want to see take to the stage on Sunday. Our hope is that five-time also-ran Kelli O’Hara will finally take home a Tony for her stellar performance in “The King and I.” But our predicted winner is Kristin Chenoweth for her scene-stealing in “On the Twentieth Century.” Likewise, we want Brian D’Arcy James to win for being so good in “Something Rotten.” However, we expect the prize to go to “Fun Home” leading man Michael Cerveris.
And be sure to predict who will win the Tonys as well. Gold Derby Users – just like YOU – turn out to be our smartest prognosticators. So, it’s vital that you give us your predictions. Your picks factor into our Users racetrack odds which are a key component of Gold Derby’s official (combined) odds.
