Those who closely follow Gold Derby already know how much schmoozing, advertising and lobbying goes into a full-blown Oscar campaign and how much it can cost. Conover lays out all the dirty details with the help of Pete Hammond (Deadline Hollywood), who explains, “Even a flop can make money with a nomination. “Adam Ruins Everything” debuted in September 2015 and follows Conover as he explains how traditions and institutions we take for granted aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, from engagement rings, to airport security, to restaurants. In addition to taking on the Oscars in the season premiere episode, Conover also poked holes in award-show fashion and revealed how decidedly “unreal” the reality TV business is. In upcoming episodes he also deflates football and tells the cold hard truth about love and marriage.
