Caitriona Balfe just landed her second consecutive Golden Globe nomination as Best TV Drama Actress for her role as Claire Randall Fraser on “Outlander.” To celebrate our favorite time-traveling nurse, click through our photo gallery above of Balfe’s best episodes from Seasons 1 and 2 of the Starz hit.
Balfe is the only returning nominee in her Best Drama Actress category and will face tough competition from: Keri Russell (“The Americans”), a recent Emmy nominee and past Globe winner for Drama Actress (“Felicity,” 1998); Winona Ryder (“Stranger Things”), Globe winner for Film Supporting Actress (“The Age of Innocence,” 1993); Evan Rachel Wood (“Westworld”), a two-time nominee for Film Drama Actress (“Thirteen, 2003”) and TV Supporting Actress (“Mildred Pierce,” 2011); and first-time nominee Claire Foy (‘The Crown”). Balfe’s co-star Sam Heughan was once again snubbed by Golden Globes voters.
This time around, Balfe’s profile is raised thanks to appearing in Jodie Foster’s “Money Monster” alongside Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Even though “Outlander” has one of the most loyal fan bases of any television show, it has yet to receive an above-the-line Emmy nomination. For its first season it received one tech nomination (Dramatic Score), and for its second season it received two (Production Design and Costume Design).
