These awards presented their last winners last May, but the Broadcast TV Journalists Association decided to change their schedule to hold their awards in January to coincide with the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. That means, for one time only, these awards only considered programs that aired between June and December 2015.
“Fargo” will sweep the longform categories, taking four out of the five prizes: Best Movie/Miniseries, Best Movie/Mini Actress (Kirsten Dunst) and both supporting awards for Bokeem Woodbine and Jean Smart. The last longform award will go to Oscar Isaac as Best Movie/Mini Actor for “Show Me a Hero.”
“Transparent” will also pull off a sweep, taking four out of six awards in the comedy field: Best Comedy Series, Best Comedy Actor (Jeffrey Tambor), Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Judith Light) and Best Comedy Guest Performer (Anjelica Huston). The last two comedy awards will go to “Jane the Virgin“: Best Comedy Actress (Gina Rodriguez) and Best Comedy Supporting Actor (Jaime Camil).
Voters will spread the wealth slightly more in the drama categories. “Mr. Robot” is forecast to take three out of the six prizes: Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor (Rami Malek) and Best Drama Supporting Actor (Christian Slater). The remaining drama acting prizes will go to Viola Davis (Drama Actress, “How to Get Away with Murder“), Ann Dowd (Drama Supporting Actress, “The Leftovers“) and Margo Martindale (Drama Guest Performer, “The Good Wife“).
