Gymnast Laurie Hernandez and race car driver James Hinchcliffe got the highest judges’ scores in week one of the competition, while former Texas governor Rick Perry was at the bottom of the leaderboard. If Perry fails to improve in tonight’s show, he may be a grave risk of being voted out on Tuesday night, but it’s not always the case that the worst dancer is eliminated.
Oftentimes fans of a low-scoring contestant will vote in earnest to save their favorite, while contestants in the middle of the pack might have fans who assume they’re safe and thus not vote. But does a politico like Perry have the kinds of fans who are invested in his success in a celebrity dance show? If not, his days may be numbered.
