Having trouble narrowing down this year’s crop of Emmy contenders to the six that’ll earn Best Movie/Mini Actress nominations? They are now showcased in a league to forecast who will earn nominations on July 14. Scroll down to see their picks for Best Movie/Mini Actress and then make your own using our easy drag-and-drop menu at the bottom of this post.
1. Sarah Paulson (“The People v. O.J. Simpson“) – 3/1 odds to earn nomination
Paulson has been nominated at the Emmys for the last four years in a row, and 2016 is likely to be her fifth. She could be nominated for both “American Horror Story: Hotel” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” but it’s the latter anthology, in which she plays embattled prosecutor Marcia Clark, that appears to be her best bet at a first win according to our Top 24 Users.
2. Kirsten Dunst (“Fargo“) – 7/2 odds to earn nomination
This recent Critics’ Choice Award champ was also Gold Derby’s pick to win the Golden Globe, but she was taken down by megastar Lady Gaga (“AHS: Hotel”). Can she stage an Emmy victory on her first-ever nomination, for the second cycle of FX’s “Fargo”?
3. Kerry Washington (“Confirmation“) – 5/1 odds to earn nomination
A two-time Emmy nominee for “Scandal,” Washington is in third place to receive a nom for HBO’s biopic about Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce). Washington’s performance is more timely than ever thanks to the real-world politics going on with the current Supreme Court vacancy.
4. Felicity Huffman (“American Crime“) – 15/2 odds to earn nomination
With buzz and critical raves through the roof for Season 2 of ABC’s “American Crime,” it should be a no-brainer that the anthology’s leading lady will earn a repeat nomination. Huffman is already an Emmy winner for the first season of “Desperate Housewives” in 2005.
5. Audra McDonald (“Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill“) – 8/1 odds to earn nomination
Broadway legend McDonald won her first Emmy last year for “Live From Lincoln Center,” and will contend again this year for the HBO telefilm adaptation of her Tony-winning play “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.”
6. Kathy Bates (“American Horror Story: Hotel“) – 25/1 odds to earn nomination
Rounding out our Top 24 Users’ list is two-time Emmy winner Bates for the fifth cycle of FX’s “American Horror Story.” In addition to being an Oscar winner for “Misery” (1991), Bates previously won Emmys for “AHS: Coven” (supporting, 2013) and “Two and a Half Men” (guest, 2012).
