Gold Derby has exclusively learned the episode submissions to Emmy Awards voters by two of the 2016 nominees for Best Comedy Supporting Actress. Kate McKinnon is entering the “Saturday Night Live” episode hosted by Ariana Grande. And Anna Chlumsky has selected the “Veep” episode called “C**gate.”
McKinnon has her third straight Emmy bid in this category as part of the “SNL” ensemble. According to the official NBC listing for her portion of the episode, McKinnon played Hillary Clinton, Tilda Swinton, a nun from “The Sound of Music,” and a mermaid.
Chlumsky now has her fourth consecutive nomination in this category for playing Amy Brookheimer, trouble-shooting presidential campaign manager. According to the HBO listing for her episode: “Dan, on Amy’s advice, volunteers to run Jonah’s campaign. Amy meets with Mike to ask if he knows who called the president a c**t, but quickly scraps the charade and admits it was her.”
We will continue to reveal all other Emmy submissions this year for the series and acting races as they are provided to us by networks, studios, or personal reps. Click here for the full list of submissions in our forums as they have been announced so far.
Who do you think will win Best Comedy Supporting Actress? These two women compete against reigning champ Allison Janney (“Mom”), returning nominees Gaby Hoffmann (“Transparent”) and Niecy Nash (“Getting On”), and past nominee Judith Light (“Transparent”).
