The Grammy nominations will be announced on Tuesday, December 6, and our readers think they know who will come out on top. We asked our readers who they expect to receive the most nominations, and 48% say it will be Beyonce. See our complete poll results below.
Beyonce has won 20 Grammys, ranging from her work with the group Destiny’s Child to her illustrious solo career. She’s already in the record books as the most nominated female artist of all time, and she also holds the record for the most victories for a female artist in a single year: six in 2009. Those six victories were out of a career-best 10 nominations, so it makes sense that our readers would favor her for the most nominations this year too. It doesn’t hurt that she and her critically hailed album “Lemonade” have the opportunity to compete in myriad categories from the general field, to pop, to R&B, to Best Music Video and Best Music Film.
Adele is next in line, with 32% of readers predicting she’ll earn the most nominations. Her biggest year at the Grammys to date was 2011 when she earned six noms for her album “21.” She won all of those awards, tying Beyonce as the biggest female winner in a single night. This year she has the opportunity to be nominated in the exact same six categories: Album of the Year and Best Pop Album (“25”), plus Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video for “Hello.”
Trailing in third place is Drake, who will be the year’s top artist according to 9% of respondents. He has been nominated a whopping 27 times since he broke onto the music scene in 2009, but he has never contended more than five times in a single year. However, he recently set a new record at the American Music Awards for the most nominations in a single year (13) thanks to his various solo efforts as well as his collaborations with other artists.
