Beyonce may have one advantage in that she’s won twice as many Grammys as Adele has (20 to 10). However, Adele has had much more success in the general-field categories that combine all genres and award the best of the best. Adele has won all four of these awards: Best New Artist in 2008, Record and Song of the Year for “Rolling in the Deep” in 2011, and Album of the Year for “21” in 2011. And Adele hasn’t lost a single Grammy race since 2009. Beyonce, meanwhile, only has one general-field victory: Song of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2009.
So will the Grammy definitely go to one of these two women? Not necessarily. We mustn’t discount this year’s other strong contenders, including overdue critical darlings Radiohead (“A Moon Shaped Pool”), best-selling rapper Drake (“Views”) and the acclaimed Frank Ocean (“Blonde”).
