Move over, Carrie Underwood! In Keith Urban‘s fun new music video for “The Fighter” shot entirely inside his car, he decided to (temporarily) replace Underwood with real-life wife Nicole Kidman. No doubt inspired by James Corden’s popular Carpool Karaoke series on “The Late Late Show,” this fun rendition is one of the few times Urban and Kidman have been seen singing together.
His ninth studio album “Ripcord,” released May 6, features Urban collaborating with “American Idol” Season 4 champion Underwood on “The Fighter.” Last month, the two crooned “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” at the “Idol” series finale in Hollywood to rave reviews. Also on the new album, Urban sings with Nile Rodgers & Pitbull on the track titled “Sun Don’t Let Me Down.”
Urban is a two-time Grammy Award winner for Best Country Vocal Performance (“Stupid Boy,” 2008) and Best Country Vocal Performance (“‘Til Summer Comes Around,” 2011). In addition, he’s a Golden Globe nominee for Best Original Song for “For You” from the film “Act of Valor” (2012).
While Kidman is no stranger to singing, she’s better known as an actress and even has an Oscar on her mantel for “The Hours” (2002). She was also nominated for “Moulin Rouge!” (2001), losing to Halle Berry (“Monster’s Ball”), and “Rabbit Hole” (2010), losing to Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”).
