The soundtrack, which is produced by Justin Hurwitz, Marius de Vries and Steven Gizicki, officially drops on December 9, the same day the film opens in limited release. As a special bonus, everyone who pre-orders the album now will receive an instant download of “City of Stars,” the main tune that’s sung by Gosling and Stone in the film.

Hurwitz, the composer and orchestrator of “La La Land,” was recently featured in Gold Derby’s roundtable Q&A for music and sound Oscar contenders at the Landmark Theater. He reminisced with moderator Tom O’Neil about being roommates with director Damien Chazelle and how their love for musicals helped create “La La Land.”
