As predicted by our exclusive Gold Derby odds, “The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton was eliminated after posting a low score last week on “Latin Night.” She received 15 out of 30 points for her Latin dance, four points less than the next-lowest scorers, which was ultimately too great a deficit for her to overcome with viewer votes.
We had given Barton 4/11 odds of elimination (73% chance), so most of our readers who entered their predictions got that question right. Our consensus was also right that she would get the lowest score (4/9 odds, 70% chance). But it was a bittersweet result for Barton. Despite getting the lowest score, it was actually her best of the competition (18 out of 30), and she performed with much greater enthusiasm than in her previous routines, where she struggled with a lack of confidence.
A bigger surprise came at the top of the leaderboard. We thought one of last week’s high scorers would win the night again — UFC fighter Paige VanZant (8/5 odds, 39% chance) or Wanya Morris (4/1 odds, 20% chance) — but instead model Nyle DiMarco made a comeback. After tying for the top score in the season premiere, DiMarco’s numbers slipped in week two, but he closed this week’s show with a “Most Memorable” tango that scored 25 points, the highest score of the season so far, including the first nine of the season, from judge Bruno Tonioli.
But we ranked DiMarco third with 9/2 odds (19% chance), so if you picked him, it may have paid off handsomely in our predictions contest.
Speaking of which, congratulations to Ldm2006 for earning the top score in this week’s contest. He is one of five contest entrants to reap perfect 100% accuracy predicting all of the questions for this episode, though he broke that tie with his high 27,167.68 point score thanks to locking in the best odds throughout the week. He got his biggest windfall by betting 500 points on Barton as the night’s low scorer at 50/1 odds; that alone resulted in a 25,000-point payout. If eligible, as per our contest rules, he will win a $100 Amazon gift certificate.
After three weeks of competition, there is a big shakeup on our overall predictions leaderboard. There is now a five-way tie for the best user predictions so far: Ldm2006, Janitor5150, Taloson, Jeredshaffer and Kyle Bailey have all scored 83% so far (10 out of 12 predictions correct), but there’s a long way to go before we crown a predictions champ, just as there’s a long way to go before “DWTS” anoints a new Mirror Ball Trophy winner.

So who do you think will win and lose? In our “Dancing with the Stars” predictions center, you get to answer the following questions before each episode airs on ABC every Monday at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.:
Who will win ‘Dancing with the Stars’?
Which star will be eliminated?
Who will receive the judges’ HIGHEST score?
Who will receive the judges’ LOWEST score?
How many 10s will the judges give out?
At the end of each week, the eligible user with the highest prediction accuracy and most points will be the leaderboard champ for the week, so it’s beneficial to keep coming back often and making/updating your predictions.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
