Oscar screeners: Lionsgate sends ‘La La Land’ starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling

Oscar voters just got screeners of one of the hottest titles of the year — Damien Chazelle‘s critically acclaimed “La La Land,” the frontrunner for Best PictureRyan Gosling and Emma Stone star in this romantic musical in which he plays a jazz musician and she an aspiring actress, both of whom are struggling to make it in Hollywood.

This is the third time Stone and Gosling have worked together, following “Crazy, Stupid, Love” (2011) and “Gangster Squad” (2013). In addition to Best Picture, our Oscar experts are forecasting wins for Best Director (Chazelle) and Best Actress (Stone) and a slew of below-the-line races as well as a nomination for Best Actor (Gosling).

After wowing critics and audiences at the Venice and Toronto film festivals,  “La La Land” opened in theaters on Dec. 9 to rapturous reviews, scoring 89 on MetaCritic and 95% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes.
