For the third week in a row, Laurence Basse tops our predictions as the frontrunner to win this season of “Project Runway” with 10/11 odds. Behind her is one-time frontrunner Erin Robertson with 11/4 odds, but it’s Rik Villa rising to third place with 6/1 odds that could be the biggest threat. Do you agree or disagree with our readers’ findings? Hurry — make your “Project Runway” Season 15 predictions for a chance to top our famous leaderboards. It’s fun and easy, so start now by predicting who will be out next.
Rik’s ascension in our power rankings has been on and off, but with only six designers left in the competition he’s looking good for a spot in the finale. With two challenge wins of his own, Rik matches both Laurence and Erin as the winningest designers of the season so far. But Rik’s latest challenge win is more recent than either of theirs — Erin is slowly coming out of a four-week slide among the bottom and Laurence has plateaued for two weeks with middle-scoring looks.
Aside from Erin’s four low scores and the three of Cornelius Ortiz, who was also technically eliminated with one of those, Rik has also produced more low-scoring looks than most of the designers left. In that regard, Rik has an inconsistent rapport with the judges and could be eliminated if he continues to take the kind of risks that yield a score on either end of the spectrum. But it’s Rik’s risk-taking and clear point of view that has earned him the kind of respect with the judging panel that even when his designs aren’t great, save him from elimination and encourage the judges to want to see what he’d produce for his collection. Should he make the finale and put together a unique collection, Rik is absolutely a threat to overtake the other two who have mostly played it safe and within their own wheelhouses all season.
