As usual, the finale began with Tim Gunn‘s visits with each of the finalists in their own space as they worked on their collections. Up first was Laurence Basse who impressed Tim by developing a colorful line as opposed to the expected black leather that she used so often throughout the season. In L.A., Tim warned Rik Villa that he had designed looks for three different girls and needed to consider mixing some of the pieces to build a common thread among them.

Tim’s third stop was with Erin who could only show him the textiles and some of the adornments she’d created since she had yet to assemble any of her garments. While this worried Tim, he applauded her continued ability to break fashion rules. Roberi Parra, on the other hand, worried Tim with his basic silhouettes and incohesive vision.

Tim’s concern about cohesion was echoed by the judging panel for all four of the designers. Both Rik and Laurence were warned that their looks seemed to be designed for three different girls and needed to be reworked in order to build a common thread. Erin was advised to lean more heavily on her ornamentation and quirkiness so that the garments without glitter and shine wouldn’t fall flat. Roberi’s reviews were the most mixed, but the consensus was that it was boring and needed to be elevated by better styling.
