“If I had known since I was four that I would be shooting this film, I would have planned it all my life … It’s the greatest job in the world,” says director Gareth Edwards in a new featurette for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” released by Walt Disney Pictures on Thursday, November 17 (watch it above).
But Edwards wasn’t the only member of the “Rogue One” team overwhelmed by this undertaking. Adds lead actress Felicity Jones, who plays Rebel spy Jyn Erso, “You can feel everyone in the crew and cast stop and take that in, and you remember, oh we’re actually in ‘Star Wars’!” Adds her co-star Diego Luna, who plays Captain Cassian Andor, “These films, these characters, this story I grew up with — it’s a whole world I’ve been thinking about for quite a long time.”
Edward teases the plot of “Rogue One” without giving too much away, explaining that it “takes place very close to ‘Episode IV.’ The simplest way to explain it is that text you see at the beginning of ‘A New Hope’ — that is essentially our movie … It is an ensemble movie, but at the heart of it is a strong woman … Through their journey we see the formation of the Rebel Alliance and the stealing of the Death Star plans.”
Does the new featurette make you more excited to see “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”?
