‘Saturday Night Live’ host poll results: Live from New York, it’s … Sam Heughan (‘Outlander’)?

Earlier this week we asked our readers which TV star they want to see host “Saturday Night Live” in 2017. Over 2,000 people voted and the results are nearly unanimous so far, as 90% want “Outlander” heartthrob Sam Heughan to host “SNL.” Do you agree or disagree with these early results? Keep voting in our poll below, and then sound off in the comments section with your own suggestions.

The Scottish “Outlander” star has millions of adoring fans worldwide, and his popularity alone would no doubt bring “Saturday Night Live” boffo ratings. It’s a shame that TV stars are rarely asked to host NBC’s late-night staple, but if Lorne Michaels and producers get their act together, our readers think Heughan would be the perfect emcee. If he hosts, we’re sure that “Outlander” co-lead Caitriona Balfe would even pop up in a sketch or two. See our photo gallery of “Outlander” Season 3 spoilers right here.

Second place in our poll is Sarah Paulson with 6% of the vote. She’s the very definition of a versatile actress as season after season she plays a new character on FX’s “American Horror Story.” This year Paulson even won an Emmy Award for portraying Marcia Clarke on “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” so the timing couldn’t be better. Next up for Paulson are the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, where she’s nominated as Best Movie/Mini Actress.
