“Thank you, readers of Gold Derby,” says newly minted $1 million champ Adam Klein on the “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” red carpet following Wednesday’s two-hour Season 33 finale and reunion show. “No one else thought I had a chance except for your readers. You guys had great predictions all season long. Nailed it.”
“I knew that I had won after leaving final tribal council,” Adam reveals about his victory. “Enough jury members confirmed that they voted for me. Given the circumstances, I was very happy to know the results so that I was able to go home to my family and share it in those final moments.” After filming the finale, Adam arrived back home and told his mother he had won and she passed away of lung cancer an hour later.
But did Adam know he’d win with a landslide 10-0-0 vote over Ken McNickle and Hannah Shapiro? “I didn’t know that it would be a unanimous vote, but I had a pretty decent idea that it might be that I at least had that chance. I certainly never expected to come in this game and have that kind of overwhelming result. But it just seals the deal on this sort of incredible, beautiful story that brings together my love for this game, my family’s passion for the show, and ultimately the way my mom lived her life.”
Also in our “Survivor” exit interview, Adam chats about what surprised him the most about playing the game, the mistakes that super-fans tend to make, and how he’s still going to be a “normal guy” even though he’s got a $1 million check in his pocket.
