With Netflix and Amazon showing strength with their streaming content at the Emmys in recent years, Hulu is aiming to join the digital breakthrough in 2016 with its original scripted offerings. Among these is the high-profile drama series “The Path,” about the followers of a mysterious fictional religion called Meyerism.
The series was created by Jessica Goldberg, who previously wrote and produced for “Parenthood.” Leading the cast are Aaron Paul as a Meyerist convert, while Michelle Monaghan plays his devout wife and Hugh Dancy plays the leader of the movement. Paul previously won three Emmys for Best Drama Supporting Actor as Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad” (2010, 2012, 2014) while Dancy earned a Best Movie/Mini Supporting Actor bid for “Elizabeth I” (2006). Monaghan previously appeared in the first season of “True Detective,” for which she earned a 2014 Golden Globe nom for Best TV Supporting Actress.
