Tina Fey & Amy Poehler (‘Saturday Night Live’) win Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actress

This year’s Emmy race for Best Comedy Guest Actress is one for the record books as for the first time, a pair of actors — Tina Fey and Amy Poehler — shared a single slot for hosting “Saturday Night Live” … and they won. This is Fey’s ninth Emmy Award victory and Poehler’s very first.

At this year’s Emmys, Fey and Poehler were up against fellow “Saturday Night Live” hosts Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer, “The Big Bang Theory” twosome Christine Baranski and Laurie Metcalf, and “Transparent” guest star Melora Hardin. This is Fey’s second victory in this race for “SNL” following her victory in 2009.

The funny ladies were nominated together at the Emmy Awards as Best Comedy Guest Actress for co-hosting the “SNL” Christmas episode. Before tonight, Poehler has always been the bridesmaid but never the bride, having been nominated 17 times at the Emmys but has never won. It looks like her multi-Emmy-winning bestie Fey was key to her finally winning a trophy.
