FXX announced that it has renewed “You’re the Worst” for a fourth season. The series follows the romance of misanthropic writer Jimmy (Chris Geere) and misanthropic music exec Gretchen (Aya Cash) as they fall in love despite themselves. Its third season is currently airing on Wednesday nights at 10pm.
In a statement FX Networks president of original programming Eric Schrier said, “Expertly written, brilliantly acted, ‘You’re the Worst’ continues to be hilarious and excellent. We’re excited to get [series creator Stephen Falk] and his team working on next season and thank everyone at ‘You’re the Worst’ for their outstanding work and the opportunity to keep producing great TV together.”
Falk responded, “It is a daily thrill to have ‘You’re the Worst’ in the same network family as ‘Archer,’ ‘Fargo,’ ‘American Crime Story,’ ‘The Americans,’ ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ ‘Atlanta,’ ‘Better Things,’ ‘Louie,’ etc., and while I am currently deep in Post on Season 3 and so, so tired, you guys, I am overjoyed.”
“You’re the Worst” hasn’t broken through at the Emmys yet, but it has been a critical darling, earning Best Comedy Series nominations from the Critics’ Choice TV Awards (2015, 2016) and the Television Critics Association Awards (2016).
