2017 ACM Awards predictions by artist: Maren Morris will sweep with 5 wins

The Academy of Country Music is expected to spread the wealth when the 2017 ACM Awards are handed out on Sunday, April 2, but while the 10 categories we’re predicting are expected to be divided fairly evenly among the nominated artists, the number of awards given out is expected to favor one artist by far: Maren Morris.

That’s according to our official odds, which are derived from the predictions of Gold Derby Editors who cover awards year-round, the Top 24 Users who got the top scores predicting last year’s ACM Awards, the All-Star Top 24 who got the highest scores when you combine ACM predictions from the last two years, and hundreds of total Users who make up the largest (and often savviest) bloc of predictors.

Morris is forecast to win two races on Sunday night: Album of the Year (“Hero”) and Single Record of the Year (“My Church”). Those categories are counted twice for artists and producers, and Morris is credited as both, so those two victories would bring her four ACM Awards. When you add in her previously announced victory as New Female Vocalist of the Year, that would bring Morris’s awards total to five. This comes one year after another newcomer, Chris Stapleton, swept the ACMs with a record-tying six wins.

The only other artist predicted to win multiple awards is … well, all the artists. Artists of Then, Now and Forever comprises 30 country stars who joined together last year to record “Forever Country” for the 50th anniversary of the Country Music Association Awards. We’re predicting “Forever Country” to win Vocal Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
