2017 American Music Awards nominations: Full list of AMA nominees includes Bruno Mars, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and …

The American Music Awards announced their 2017 nominees on Thursday, October 12, starting with a special presentation of the first six categories by singer Ciara on “Good Morning America,” and then the full list later through Facebook Live and the official websites for Billboard and the American Music Awards. Scroll down to see the contenders in all 28 races spanning pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, country, and more.

This year there are five nominees for Artist of the Year: Bruno Mars, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Ed Sheeran. Of those, Drake has been nominated twice before (2012 and 2016), while Mars and Sheeran have each contended once before (Mars in 2013, Sheeran in 2015). Chainsmokers and Lamar are in contention for the very first time. But regardless of how often they’ve been nominated, none of them have ever won, so this year is guaranteed to crown a new champ. The reigning winner, Ariana Grande, didn’t receive any bids this year.

Bruno Mars is up for eight total awards. In addition to Artist of the Year he contends for Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Soul/R&B Album (“24K Magic”) and Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Adult Contemporary Artist, among others. Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Lamar, and Sheeran compete for five prizes each. Winners will be decided by fans voting online and will be announced during the live show that will take place on Sunday, November 19. What do you think of the AMA contenders?
