2017 Emmy nominations list: The contenders in all 27 categories handed out on Sept. 17

The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards take place on Sunday, September 17 and will air live coast-to-coast on CBS. Stephen Colbert, who took over “The Late Show” on the Tiffany network two years ago, is hosting for the first time. Over the course of a jam-packed three hours, 27 awards will be handed out.

While that is three more than either the Oscars or Tonys, it is only about a fifth of the 119 categories at the Emmys. The bulk of these — 92 in all — were awarded at the Creative Arts Awards ceremonies on the weekend of Sept. 9/10. Two shows — “Stranger Things” and “Westworld” — won five races each there.

Both of those programs contend for Best Drama Series at the main show. With two-time reigning champ “Game of Thrones” not eligible this year, any of the seven nominees listed below could take that top prize. Predicting the winners is made more difficult by a voting system that has changed drastically in the last two years.

The is still time to make or updating your Emmy predictions right here before the first award is handed out at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 17.
