Complete SAG Awards predictions (Film): ‘Moonlight’ will win big, but guild will spread the wealth

These official odds are derived from the predictions of film Experts, Gold Derby Editors who cover awards year-round, the Top 24 Users who got the top scores predicting last year’s SAG Awards for film, the All-Star Top 24 who got the highest scores when you combine the last two years’ SAG winners, and thousands of total Users who make up the largest (and often savviest) bloc of predictors.

We’re predicting all six categories and betting on the Screen Actors Guild to spread the wealth. “Moonlight” is the only film expected to win multiple awards: Best Film Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali). But it’s not guaranteed to win the top award: there is also significant support behind “Fences,” “Manchester by the Sea” and “Hidden Figures.”

And that’s not the only close race. Emma Stone (“La La Land”) has a very narrow advantage for Best Actress against Natalie Portman (“Jackie”). Casey Affleck (“Manchester”) faces a significant Best Actor challenge from Denzel Washington (“Fences”). Even Ali could potentially be upset by Dev Patel (“Lion”) or Jeff Bridges (“Hell or High Water”), especially after Ali’s surprise loss at the Golden Globes. The closest thing to a SAG lock appears to be Viola Davis (“Fences”) for Best Supporting Actress.

Find out who we’re betting on below (projected winners are highlighted in gold). And there’s still time to make or edit your own predictions before the winners are announced on January 29.
