On the eve of Emmy voting starting up on Monday, Amazon will make sure that voters get its FYC message by delivering it in person on Sunday.
That’s when Amazon’s reps will canvass greater Los Angeles to hand out a comprehensive voters’ guide to its competing programs. “Physical copies will be delivered to eight different areas, including Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Burbank and Culver City by brand ambassadors,” says a rep. “At each stop we anticipate that we would hit about 500 homes and 500 local businesses.”
A digital copy is also available to Emmy voters at ConsiderAmazon.com.
The 29-page voters’ guide is full of big glossy photos and comprehensive listings of who’s competing in each category, including casting, costumes and production design plus the top slots for Best Comedy and Drama Series. Shrewdly, it reminds voters of past kudos success like “Transparent” winning Emmys for Best Comedy Actor (Jeffrey Tambor) and Directing (Jill Soloway) over the past two years and “Goliath” snagging the recent Golden Globe for Best Drama Actor (Billy Bob Thornton). Equal oomph is given to Amazon’s victories and nominations at BAFTA, Critics’ Choice Awards and the Peabodys.
Also scattered throughout are hosannah quotes from TV Guide, Variety and other major media about comedies “I Love Dick,” “Catastrophe,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Fleabag,” “One Mississippi,” “Red Oaks” and dramas “Bosch,” “Man in the High Castle,” “Sneaky Pete” and “Z: The Beginning of Everything.”
