High school/college dance crew Brobots & Mandroidz stood out from the crowd so much during the Judge Cuts 3 episode of “America’s Got Talent” 2017 that they nabbed a slot in the upcoming live rounds. The guys advanced on Tuesday after performing a red-hot dance number to Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign‘s “Swalla.” The dance crew from Southern California lost a few members following their original audition because their parents “wanted them to focus on school.” But the rest of the group came out swinging and proved why they belonged in the competition. Guest judge Laverne Cox (Emmy-nominated for “Orange is the New Black”) opened up the critiques by declaring, “That was so hot, I loved it! I thought you guys were so incredible. Congratulations.”
“You guys brought such an honestly and a realness,” added Mel B. “I’m so glad that you’re here. I’m so, so glad. Well done.”
Heidi Klum chimed in, “Boys, you really brought your A game today. If it’s five people dancing I’d say, ‘Okay, that’s already good.’ But so many of you? It was fantastic.”
“Unfortunately, we only have seven places,” warned Simon Cowell. “But I really, really like you guys, and I’ll tell you why I like you. What I get from you is a real friendship and fun. And it’s about likeability and you have that. So thank you.”
Brobots & Mandroidz were one of Tuesday’s seven acts to go through to the live rounds of “Americas Got Talent” 2017. If Brobots & Mandroidz end up as the ultimate champs, they’ll be the first dance crew to win the long-running reality TV show. (See the “AGT” winners list.)
