‘America’s Got Talent’ 2017: Grace VanderWaal returns to ‘AGT’ and performs original song ‘Moonlight’ [WATCH]

During Wednesday’s results show of “America’s Got Talent” 2017, last year’s winner Grace VanderWaal returned to the “AGT” stage for the first time. After being introduced by Season 12 host Tyra Banks, VanderWaal took the stage with her trademark ukulele to perform her single “Moonlight,” which she also wrote. Watch Grace VanderWaal’s 2017 performance above.

The 13-year-old singer-songwriter-ukuleleist performed “Moonlight” at the Dolby Theatre amidst a beautiful backdrop with trees, fog and a crescent moon. Among the notable lyrics, VanderWaal kept repeating “Remember last year?” which is a wink to the last time she appeared on this stage and won the show’s $1 million grand prize.

VanderWaal is now the sixth singer to win “America’s Got Talent” following Bianca Ryan, Neal E. Boyd, Kevin Skinner, Michael Grimm and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. The other five champs have a vast array of talents: ventriloquists Terry Fator and Paul Zerdin, dog trick team Olate Dogs, experimental dancer Kenichi Ebina and magician Mat Franco. All four judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel — jumped to their feet at the conclusion of VanderWaal’s “Americas Got Talent” 2017 performance of “Moonlight.” Two months ago we asked our readers whether VanderWaal really deserved to win “AGT” Season 11 and the results were nearly unanimous, with the young singer earning 83% of the vote.
