Angelica Hale may have been the fifth act to perform on Tuesday’s first live “America’s Got Talent” show but she ranks first for many viewers. During the July 18 episode of “AGT,” this talented tyke won over guest judge Chris Hardwick with her rendition of “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys. He was so impressed that he pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Hale straight through to the live shows. (Watch Angelica Hale’s quarter-final performance above.)
We first saw Hale on the June 6 audition episode and were introduced to her via a videotape that recounted her comeback from a health crisis. At just four years of age, she had kidney disease and her mother donated one of hers. Five years on and Hale strode out on the stage of “AGT” to tell the judges, “I want to be the next Whitney Houston. I want to be a superstar.” Within seconds of starting her song, Andra Day‘s Grammy-nominated “Rise Up,” the judges, audience and viewers were all in agreement that Hale was well on her way to making her dream come true.
On Tuesday’s show, she wowed the crowd once again with her flawless rendition of “Clarity” by Zedd.” She had all four judges singing her praises, with both Mel B and Heidi Klum gushing over her extraordinary range.
